Delete your DealerBay account

This page explains how to request deletion of your DealerBay account and the data associated with it. It applies to the DealerBay app on Google Play and to dealerbay.in.

How to request deletion

Send an email to support@dealerbay.in from any email address.
Use the subject line: Delete my DealerBay account
Include the phone number registered to your account, in the format +91XXXXXXXXXX. This is the number you use to sign in.
Verify it is really you. We will send a one-time code (OTP) by SMS to that number and ask you to reply with it. We cannot delete an account without this step — it is what stops someone else from deleting your account.
We complete the deletion within 30 days and email you to confirm.

Email us to delete your account

Deletion is permanent Once your account is deleted it cannot be restored, and your saved cars, alerts and (for dealers) listings cannot be recovered. Signing up again later creates a brand-new account.

What is deleted

When we action your request we permanently delete:

Your account and phone number (your sign-in identity)
Your saved cars and saved-search alerts
Your chosen location or city
Your notification token, so no further push notifications are sent
For dealers: your business profile, GSTIN, shop photo and car listings (listings are removed from the marketplace)

What is kept, and for how long

A small amount of data is retained after deletion, either because the law requires it or because it belongs to another person's records. This data is no longer linked to your identity except where a legal obligation requires otherwise.

Records of contacts between a buyer and a dealer	Up to 24 months	These underpin dealer billing and dispute resolution. After deletion they are de-identified — the record that a contact occurred remains, but it is no longer connected to your account.
Transaction and invoice records (dealers)	Up to 8 years	Indian tax and accounting law requires businesses to retain financial records. We cannot delete these earlier.
Aggregated, anonymous statistics	Indefinite	For example counts of how many cars were viewed in a city. This contains nothing that identifies you and cannot be traced back to you.
Security and abuse-prevention logs	Up to 90 days	To detect fraud and protect the marketplace. Purged automatically.

Deleting your data without deleting your account

You do not have to close your account to remove your data. You can delete most of it yourself, immediately, from inside the app:

Saved cars — open Saved cars and remove any car. Deleted at once.
Saved-search alerts — open Cars you're waiting for and delete a request. Deleted at once, and no further alerts are sent for it.
Notification token — turn notifications off for DealerBay in your device settings, or sign out. The token is removed from our servers.
Location — revoke the location permission in your device settings. Your stored city is replaced the next time you pick one.
Car listings (dealers) — delete any individual car from your store.

Requesting deletion of other data by email

For anything you cannot remove yourself — for example your contact history with dealers, or a dealer business profile — email support@dealerbay.in with the subject Delete my DealerBay data. Include:

The phone number registered to your account (+91XXXXXXXXXX).
Which data you want deleted.

We verify it is you by sending a one-time code (OTP) by SMS to that number, then action the request within 30 days and confirm by email. The retention rules in the table above apply equally to partial deletion requests: records we are legally required to keep, such as dealer invoices, cannot be removed early.
